Kill Switch

Postby Porkey » Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:00 pm

I have a GL1988. When I get it warm, the bike will die until the kill switch cools off. Will act like a dead battery. Any body have any suggestions as to why and what can be done to fix the problem.

Thank you!!!!!

The bike shuts off and it has no electrics at all, or the engine shuts off and things like the radio, headlight etc. are still working?

If it shuts off and everything electrical is dead, have a look at your master (dogbone) fuse. It can develop hairline cracks that open up when it gets warm, causing everything to go dead. Take it out and have a good look - then perhaps replace it with a blade fuse holder that won't fail in the same way.
