Had a weird thing happen. . . . .

Post by Uncle Fester » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:58 pm

Okay, as the title says, I have had a weird thing happen the last couple of days, and I am not sure if it is something to worry about or not. So, here goes. . . . .

My clock display likes to pull the "I'm not gonna work" game on cool, damp/humid days ( got to love the GL-1500 LCD display, right? lol ) Anyway, the last few days, when it decided to work ( after warming up a little ) the lights along the bottom of the dash ( oil, Cruise Control, Side Stand, Reverse, O.D. ) ALL flash on for about 5 seconds or so , then everything works as it should. Do I need to worry, and if so, where do I start looking. . . . ?

My first thought would be loose connector. Find the harness connectors, and unplug/plug in.

Hmmm.the lamps...sounds like a "power on self test mode" going on.
I suspect that the dash isn't getting switched power when the key is turned on.
Probably a connection at the plug.???
Does anything else not work.?
Perhaps a funky relay.?
I'll look into the schematic for a weak link.

Except for the LCD problem that is a normal built in self test function. If yours doesn't sometimes that is a problem. You more than likely have a problem with the ground going to the dash display, as in corrosion from sitting outside.
