Fairing rattles

Postby Tpawre » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:23 am

So my recent purchase, a 1990 goldwing, is so far a pleasure, right down to the 1700 dollar purchase price. The plastics have some rattles and squeaks which i expected but still can't stand. Where can i find a assembly/part diagram for the fairing? Hopefully it will include exploded views to identify retaining clips as well. If this post is on the wrong forum please direct me to the proper one. Thanks

Most of my 88 plastic did rattle.
Get the fuzzy side of some Velcro.
Pull the side covers off.You will see a couple of "rub" marks in the plastic.
Clean this area and put the Velcro over that area.Yes you can keep it hidden.
Do the same on the front fork covers, trunk lid, saddle bag lid, even under the top shelter.
Just about anywhere plastic is loosely fitted,it will rattle or squeak.
I used almost 2 foot ot this stuff..in 1 inch squares.
Don't forget to use some type of "lid keeper".You really don't want to know how much a battery cover cost.
Even after all this there is still a bit of noise when I hit the RR tracks but normal road bumps are fine.

I appreciate the ideas, ive given thought to other quick fixes but after finding a broken piece of trim around the left mirror with the metal clip missing, id like to find a complete break down image(s) of the main fairing assembly. Any further comments are of course welcome
