I searched the DIY articles as well as past posts but was unable to find an answer. if I missed it, please point me in the right direction. TIA.
New to the forum and just picked up a 1992 GL1500A with 47,000 on the clock. I am just beginning to sort it out and pulled the air filter this evening. It is a K&N and will be replaced with an OEM paper filter. Not saying anything bad about K&N, but not for me. Looking at the parts fiche, I see what seems to be an air cleaner upper seal, 17213-MN5-300. I found some references to this part in the forum, But I also see what appears to be a lower seal called a "Joint", 17211-M72-000. I can find no references. Do I need both?
I also plan to replace the seal for the air cleaner inlet on the front of the filter housing, 17214-MN5-000. Anything else I need to look at to seal up the air filtration system?

If the installer of the K&N filter followed the installation instructions, both seals were removed. There are two of them, one upper and one lower, and they have the same part number; 17213-MN5-300. They are $9.87 each retail and $6.52 if you order them online from Partzilla.
