CB/Intercom Not Working

Postby 1500Wing » Thu Oct 09, 2014 3:01 pm

I have a 1997 1500SE that just recently has developed and issue with the CB not transmitting or receiving. The music can not be heard through the J&M headsets either. I believe the intercom/music is all ran through the CB? Any ideas?

The intercom and music is run through the radio, and the CB connects to the radio.

Can you switch the radio and CB to speaker mode, and hear either of them over the speakers? Or is the problem both on the speakers and the headsets (I assume both headsets?)?

You know the CB switches to speaker mode separately from the radio (by pressing in on the squelch knob), right?

OK, but you can hear something? It's not completely silent?

I was not aware of pushing the squelch button, and yes I can hear something, just muffled radio/intercom in the headsets. Are you saying that if I push the squelch it may fix my problem?

No, I'm saying the CB is switched to speaker mode separately from the radio, and to do so you push in on the squelch button. If you do that, can you hear the CB correctly over the speakers?

I was not aware of that. . . . so does that mean you can turn the radio OFF and still listen to the CB , or does the radio have to be ON either way ?

Sorry for the slight hijack. . .

You can operate either separately, they do not depend on the other to be on/off.
