Color of air pressure switch panel?

Postby jenagle » Mon Oct 20, 2014 6:26 am

I have a GL1500 that sat in the Kansas sun before I got it, and the paint is obviously faded on the tops and sides of the plastic panels. One of the things that bugs me is the switch panel for the on-board compressor. It is a sparkly silver color. I'd like to go back to the original color scheme, but don't know what color was there originally. Anybody have suggestions?

I've sort of considered painting it the red that came on the bike, but am waffling with semi-gloss black also. Opinions?

I've never seen them anything other than flat black, textured, raw, unpainted ABS:

Thanks. I've enclosed a picture of mine so that you know what I'm dealing with.

Since I'm doing both the clutch and brake master cylinders (replacing), I'm thinking of painting all the old faded black handles and switches flat black to match. I guess I'll do this one too.

Again, thanks

Is it possible it's one of these stick-on accent plates?

Now that you've brought it up, it is quite possible. I hadn't seen that plate before, but it does look a lot like the one on the bike. I'll check it out when I take it out, and let you know. Sure would be neat if that was the case, and all I had to do was clean it.

Thanks
