Installing a simple headlight switch

Postby RBGERSON » Sun Oct 26, 2014 3:00 pm

I am thinking of installing HId lights so I want to be able to keep the headlight off until the bike is running to avoid the extra on/off of the headlight on start ups. I don't want to install an oil pressure switch or rpm switch just a manual on/off.

Can I install a simple on/off switch by cutting into the wires that come out of the start switch on the handle bars..if so which wire should I cut into and where is the easiest place to access it?

End result should I can turn headlights off or on as I wish and eliminating the automatic on function on when one turns the ignition switch to on before one pushes the start button.

Add a switch on the blue/white wire on the dimmer switch and you will be able to switch your headlights off and on.

I think I would splice unto the ground wire at the headlight itself and not chance complications.
My exercise bike is a goldwing.
