GL 1500 91 Tranmission

Postby Huntersbane » Tue Nov 18, 2014 9:54 am

Hi All

Well after 6 Months with the Death Rattle in the Transmission. I Left 4th Gear on a roundabout near Carlisle in the UK. So put a older (greater mileage) engine in her its ok but not the the Original and a bit slower.

So I am splitting the Engine and replacing 4th gear, and advice would be greatfull,
fw qstions also :
1 ) What in full do I need to replace,
2 ) Part numbers would be usefull (as when looking at the Parts Manual the discription just says GEAR (27T) - ALL'90 '91) Err is that 1,2,3,4,5th gear...... :?: :?: :?:

Thanks

Huntersbane :!:

It would depend on what exactly failed inside the transmission. If it were me, I would be replacing the gears, selector forks and bearings - to basically make the transmission like new, with fresh dogs and selectors.

OK thanks for the advice.

So its a full transmission, Seals, Bearing and Gaskit Kit. Think I should change the clutch too. make shure in my life time no more Engine-Outage. LOL

Any one have the 96 part numbers please.

Thanks

Go to 97 assuming it work No one has said it's a straight swap and I don't know if it is ..only some late model 96's got the better tranny..

go here for all parts good prices usually the cheapest. But might be cheaper to find a good 97 or 98 engine and swap out the whole thing.
