There isn't a specific DIY for that - but if you have a look at How to replace your dash lights with LEDs, you'll find it shows the exact steps required to get to the speakers, then removing and replacing them is just a set of screws away.

I am going to be replacing my speakers, all four of them, with DB501s, and am going to add some fiberglass baffling too. :D

The only difficult part of the job I thought was removing the vents the fairing, the little tabs are a bit of a p.i.t.a., other than those not to bad of a job. Be sure to replace the dash light while your in that far.

There is another thread here somewhere about front speakers. On the recommendation of (I think) "ratherberiding" I went with Kenwood KFC-1065Rs from BestBuy. Right at about $32. I don't know whether they're better than the Polks but I do know they're way better than the broken original speakers in my 97. They also fit right in, the only "mod" if you can call it that is I had to snip the holes open for the screws in the speakers. Time to go and put it all back together, it's quite a bit of work for just two speakers.

i fitted DB401's and 501's to my 1500 last year didnt need any packing ..they sound great clear and crisp
the fitting of the rears was a bit of a pain had to take out some of the plastic as the rears are just a bit deeper than OEM ..the fromts went in no problems , just had 1 new screw hole to drill ..but boy they were worth it
