LCD Display 88GL

Postby brw » Sat Dec 27, 2014 4:16 pm

Hello All
I went out to the garage the other day to perform some maintenance on the bike. replaced timing belts. when all done and started the bike to regulate coolant I noticed the lcd unit was counting very quickly like every 15 seconds or so it would change the minute. was hoping to get some ideas as to what might be going on and if there are any cures.
Thanks Brad

Is it damp where you're working? This kind of thing is known to happen when the circuit board driving the LCD gets damp and/or dirty. Cleaning it off with an electronics solvent, then sealing it against future dampness with a lacquer can fix it.

It may fix the issue or make it a bit less prone to the effect of humidity..but it's not the total cure!

Hello All
Finally go the time and gumption to go out and remove the instrument cluster to address clock malfunction.
Disassembled cluster to get to lcd circuit board. cleaned with 91% alcohol Clear coated the circuit board and reassembled. Clock now appears to be running correctly.
Thanks for the info
Brad
