Carbs by year??

Postby otto1 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 5:06 pm

I have a 2000 1500 SE I'm resurrecting. The carbs have been worked on before me and I had them ready to go in the bike. Bike was running fine after rebuild. The previous owner or who ever worked on them bent one of the accelerator tubes on the top of the carb. I was very careful to leave it alone. Doing a final check I was twisting the throttle checking the operation of the Acc.pump and fuel was coming out of the base of the acc. pump tube at the top of the carb throat. I wiggled it and it broke off. Oh Well, can't win 'em all..... Better me having it fall of now than having it fall into the engine.....

My question is: Is there a difference between the carbs on a 93 SE from the carbs on my 2000SE. The part numbers for the full assy. do not match but they could have changed a very minor thing to change the part number. All I need is the top plate, does anyone see any problems using the older body??

Thanks, OTTO

Found the info. The base plate for the air cleaner is the same through all years.

All I know is the carbs were modified in 1994 to improve balancing, and from 1995 the carbs required far less balancing and were easier to balance. What the modifications were I do not know, albeit internal or external changes, apart from costing $150 more. I could not afford to have carbs balanced back then, and did not know how to do it myself, or anything else for that matter. I was too thrilled with my intergalactic monster GoldWing to notice things like that.

I guessed as much, but did not want to say. Glad you found the info.
