Powder coated my 1500 rims

Before. The rear was really starting to pit
Before. The rear was really starting to pit

While the bike has been torn down for maintenace and upgrades this winter, I had decided to have the wheels powder coated. I contacted my local vocational high school and they agreed to do them if I bought the material. They use powders from Columbia Coating, so that is where I bought mine. I used the Bengal Silver metallic color with the "wet" clear coat with the prism flakes added.

I just recieved the rear rim back last week. At first I didn't quite like the color I chose. Thought it was a bit to gray for my liking, but it has grown on me. What I do like is how easy these will be to keep clean in the future.

I will state the the pictures below don't really do it justice. It looks a lot better in person.

I should have the front back next week. They had issues with the coating laying evenly on the wheel. Had to go to a different powder which is a brighter silver than the rear. They have a fairly large oven and only use it when it is full. I will post pics when get it back and again when the bike is done this spring.

I have her all torn down for maintenace and projects for this first winter I have had the bike.

List includes:
New timing belts
All fluids
Rear end maintenace
All filters
Progressive suspension front and rear
WingAdmins LED mods in rear
New rotors and pads
Shifter pivot mod
New speakers
New windscreen
Ring of fire lighting
New alternator
New battery
New wheel bearings front and rear
Tire balancing beads

And some others I am sure I am missing or forgot.
My job is demanding and my garage is unheated (have a diesel powered torpedo heater) so is can't get out there as much as I would like. But this list is over half done.

Looks FANTASTIC ! :D
Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself. Our stress about it happens when the two aren't the same. Be true to yourself and to hell with what everyone else thinks!

That's just background to give the new powder coating the best possible feature in the photo. Poor shivering Ohio resident 8-)
