Cruise control and turn signals

Postby GWP » Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:54 pm

The cruise control and self canceling turn signals stopped working at the same time on my 1997 Goldwing Aspencade. Turn signals work in manual mode. Any suggestions as to what the cause may be? Happened after I installed new tires, trailer wiring harness, and gps mount on right handle bar control.

The common factor between both of these is the wheel speed sensor:

I'm assuming your speedometer is still working - if it isn't, then that is the cause of your problem.

When the speedometer turns, inside the instrument panel a small magnet causes a pulse on the white/black wire that increases in frequency with the speed of the bike. The cruise control uses this to determine the bike's current speed, and the turn signal system uses it to determine when to shut off. The radio also uses it to determine when to quiet down (at low speeds). I suspect this function on your radio is also not working right now.

As said in the last post, check your speedometer, Did you remember to hook up the cable?

Cruise control and self canceling turn signal stopped working around 1500 miles ago. Speedometer stopped working the last time I rode the bike. Ordered a new speedometer cable.
