r and r gas tank on gl1500 se. 1990

8 hours got the tank out, but only w/large hammer to bend it . i dont think i can get new tank in that way. removed: rear wheel, drive shaft, shocks, plastic fender cant get the exhaust collector off, too froze up bolts. filed the edges on new tank about half way .this gave a little exrearoom, also removed starter. break time. ps, dont know how the picture got on my post

ok. remove swingarm tank slides out. good time to check greese on splines and bearings. check torque setting on swing arms when reinstalling

I feel ya. I got my tank out without dropping the collector or removing the swingarm. With the help of a rubber mallet...
Most pain in the butt job I've ever done. Worse than the snap ring on the drive shaft of my 1000, that SOB. :x The tank did go back in a lot easier than it came out for some unknown reason.

Watch, now that I said all that, my rear master brake cyl is going to go out. Knock on wood.
