Recognize this seat insert???

Postby livinnstix » Sat Feb 28, 2015 4:02 pm

Does anyone recognize this seat insert? I have this seat insert and it leaks down after about a mile. I found that the tube leaks where the red tube and the black filler valve join. Does anyone know which type of insert this is as I was hoping to repair it.

Thank you for any help,

Dustin

No idea on the manufacture but two ideas..put some green slim in..tire sealer..then sit on it to add pressure tot eh hole.. may seal the hole or try using glue on the outside JB weld or ABS glue depending on whether it's plastic or abs plastic.

Absolutely do not use slime!!!! It may clog the valve and the insert will be useless!!!

Years ago Travelcade had a similar product, my bike has only has the backrest that looks just like that. Pressure on pad and push to release air. Check valve can be replaced with a better option.

Hey bro.
I have that same seat cushion in my 1991 1500A . mine also leaks so I took the seat apart found the leaks my dunking it in water after filling it with air. Found the leaks and patched them, with bike patches and it still leaked. So later I took the seat apart again and inserted PURPLE foam over the air bladder and got a better ride. Note I said purple foam. good luck. Make sure you short staples.

Thanks for all the pointers. Worst case scenario Ill put some foam back in the hole. I can fill it with air till its stretching at the seams and it wont leak but I take it down the road a mile and all the air will leak out. I believe its all in the check valve so Ill look into replacing that.

Thanks again.

I have a air hawk seat insert, it was leaking, so I put air in it put it in waterbath and put patch on it better than buying a new blatter
