Gl1500 Lower Fairing Screw Cover Cap

Postby landisr » Fri Mar 06, 2015 3:07 pm

Hi, Gang. I was just reading the how-to here for replacing the sub air and cruise filters, and near the bottom some were commenting on replacing the "oval" screw covers that were lost/broken and how expensive color matched pieces are ($45 or so..). Just thought I would mention here that Wingstuff has a set of chrome ones for $6.95. As far as I'm concerned, chrome matches any color.

Good luck, all. Riding season is right around the corner for most of you. I am blessed to be able to ride year-round here. Just did an 80 mile breakfast ride this morning. Sorry. :D

Yup, Cyclemax has those too. I ordered my last lost one from Honda for an exorbitant price. I think next time I'll just buy one of the chrome cheapies and hit it with some white spray paint before installing. :)

I ordered a chrome set also. Still have the color matched set but the chrome looks better I think.

When I first got this Wing several years ago I seen that potential problem of the lower fairings oval screw covers and fixed it before I lost one.
Crystal Clear packing tape works wonders. EZ cleanup if the sticky stuff stuck.
8-)

To me it's amazing how many parts are just clipped on and not fall off on harsh bumps. Like the 1500 fairing 'L' trim next to the pockets.

Know its new taste and be loyal, you'll know when to change that oil.
Taste testing as the miles flow, souring as that acid grows.
And don't flirt with dirt or darkened oil, all the faster your engine will spoil.

I used a sticky foam adhesive on the screw head. It takes a bit of effort to pry the thing off now. I hated paying to replace one of those. :)

The price for OEM was pretty cheap when I ordered mine. Didn't realize there was a left and right hand difference so I ordered 2 lefties by mistake. Then when I realized and went to order righties they were discontinued! Contemplating my next move.
