Parts Sources

Postby metalsmith » Tue Mar 10, 2015 2:14 pm

I'm not sure this is the correct place to post this, but I am looking for an on-line source for a few 1500 parts. My searches were not too informative. I'm needing to find the cruise filter, sub filter and hot-air seals for this 91 so I can quit taking things apart and start putting things back together. The early warm weather this year is lighting a fire under me just a bit earlier than anticipated!

If anyone has a parts source they use that seems to have most components in stock, I would greatly appreciate being pointed in their direction.

Thanks

I can't speak for the hot air seals, but Cyclemax had the two filters in stock a few weeks ago when I bought mine. They were fast & accurate in filling my order, and prices were great. If that helps...

I don't mean to sound stupid or anything, and not knowing about these larger bikes, but how many filters do these 1200, 1500 and the 1800's have other than an air/oil/ and fuel filters?.

No idea about the 1800 but the 1500 has a cruise filter, sub air filter, and 3 in the compressor, 2 fiber and one foam.

thanks spiral, i'll have to keep that in mind in case I get 1200 or a 1500, but if I do get another wing, its gonna be a 1200. I think the 1500's are a little too big for me to handle.

Stuart,
I am just in the process of learning a bit about the 1500 as I bring one back from a long sleep. I have been running a 1200 for several years and have not replaced any filters on it besides air, gas and oil, but I haven't looked to see if it has others or not. I have not heard mention of any others.

On the 1500 I have a metric ton of tupperware off of it, so I figured now would be a good time to do these little maint. items.

GL1800 is back to simple... only two. Air and Oil. The Air filter, however is about a four hour job to change.

I've got everything coming from Cyclemax. They had the cruise filter and sub-filter but had to go to their Honda supplier for the others. They got back with me telling me that everything I ordered was available and was in the works. When they go to their outside source it is supposed to increase delivery time by 4-5 days, so I should see stuff in her in 10 days or so.

Sounds like these folks can get their hands on some if not most of the needed maintenance items a fellow is looking for. I'll sure deal with them again. Thanks for the suggestion WingAdmin.

The cruise and sub filter can more problems than you can imagine if you don't do them. The foam disintegrates and get sucked into places where you really don't want it causing lots of driveability issues.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

Stuart, just try a 1500. To me, the 1500 feels lighter and better balanced the my 1100 and actaully, easier to ride then my 1100. I didn't like the 1200 I rode, I love my 1100 but that's becuase it's mine but I've have ridden both of my buddies 1500's and they are just an awesome bike. If I replace mine, it will be a 1500.

there's a motorcycle salvage yard not too far from where I live, and they have a lot of different bikes. some are wrecks and some are rebuilt and resold. I sat on a 1500 he had, and I have to agree, just from sitting on it I felt very comfortable, but I would have to ride one to see if I could handle it only because its bigger and has more power.

I think you would really like it... after riding my buddie for 5 minutes, I could do a u-turn on it without that "pucker" moment (and that's being a noob at the time), something I still struggle with a little with my 1100. The only thing I will say, is get one with reverse, they can be a real pain to back up if you are in a bad parking situation.

It's a very easy and enjoyable bike to ride... Ask Wingadmin, he went from a 1100 to a 1500.

that's what good "customer service" is all about and something that has been lost over the years.
