88 gl 1500 radio

Postby brw » Thu Mar 12, 2015 12:37 am

hello to all
went on a short ride the other day and had problems with the radio. would not come out of the mute mode. played with switch waited for a while nothing. I did find if I flat handed the radio right by the cassette door it would switch momentarily the go back to mute. any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks brad

Are you sure the radio is actually muted? Is your intercom or CB turned on?

I would try pulling the connector off the back of the radio and using electrical contact cleaner to clean both sides. If that doesn't fix it, it's likely going to be a problem internal to the radio.

you can open up the switch and jump across if it unmutes its switch if not connector or radio
