New battery

Postby sfpatter » Mon Mar 16, 2015 8:56 pm

I am a female who owns a trike(1994) and the battery died during cold weather. Finally got battery out to replace but can't get new one in. Does seat have to come off and if yes, how do you get it off ?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
There are allen bolts in the grab handles that have to be removed before you can get the seat off. Deep in the recess of the handle is where you'll find them. Then you slide the seat back a bit and lift up the back and out of the slot that hold the seat tab.

On the seat you will see TWO handles on the back of the seat if you look on the side of the handles you will see ALLEN Bolts two in each side remove then. Then grab the handle and pulled then out of the seat set then aside pull the seat up for the back of the seat and pull it out how the seat is out and you have the room you need to work on your battery.

There should be the correct tool in your tool kit. If the old battery came out with the seat on the new one should go in with it on also. I have never had to take the seat off to replace the seat on a 1500 or 1800 Gold Wing. Good luck with your project.

It depends on whether or not the seat is original. My Corbin seat must come off in order to do this job.
