gl 1500.fuel pump wont work

gl 1500.fuel pump wont work

i have power to pump .but it wont pump, bought another used one it wont work. i hooked them direct to battery still nothing. is it likely neither one works? any suggestions?

I'll believe anything...
You could check a few things.The pump motor needs both 12 volts positive and ground to operate...With a ohm meter,measure for continuity between these connections...if the motor has a low resistance,at least the electrical may be OK and just the impeller jammed or stuck..If there is no continuity,the motor isn't getting the volts all the way through the brushes...Either from old age or contamination..
Sometimes a good soaking in a cleaner/gunk remover then a smart rap while applying power may get it moving again.
I did have a washer motor stop on a car...it was drawing power but not spinning...just a small piece of debris locked the impeller...A good back flush fixed it right.

thanks virgilmobil pulled pump hooked to battery sharp rap w/screwdriver, sweetest purr i ever heard. thanks

Great.Id suggest pulling and inspecting the inlet screen filter for tears,then back flush the assembly.
