Radio wiring question

Postby phenrichs » Tue Mar 31, 2015 10:42 am

Trying to help a friend. He has a 94 1500SE. Radio does not work. He is considering a replacement but is also considering what else he can do.

The question is what is controlled through that unit. A wiring diagram I saw shows some shared connections with cooling fans. If one is removing the factory radio I assume you lose intercom and CB but is there any thing else of special consideration?

There's no connection to the cooling fans that I know of. The radio does have connections to the ECU, so it can adjust volume based on the bike speed.

Removing it will have you lose CB and intercom, as you noted, and obviously the display for the radio functions will go away. But you won't lose any other functionality in the bike.
