Headlight

Postby salathial » Wed Apr 15, 2015 1:27 pm

I'm new at all of this so here goes. Trying to put headlight back in. Not sure of placement of upper and lower spacers that came out. Also, what is best position for the rocker arm at the inside end of the control cable mechanism. it has to press against a little "piston pin and spring" on the back of the light housing. Should it be turned all the way back, forward, or in the center position. Thanks for your help.

Those pieces are notorious for falling out of place when you try to reinstall the headlight. I used some sticky string, which I can't give you the actual name for. It's like this stringy, rubbery stuff, attached to a paper backing on a roll. I found it in the craft section of Walmart, in a green box. It's also really handy for keeping those screw cover tabs, on the lower fairing, from falling off while riding. I lost one, at a cost of $14 to replace, before finally 'sticking' them in place. Anyway, I also attached the headlight washers the same way. No more problems reinstalling the headlight. The washers stay in place. The sticky string stuff stays sticky, but easily removed when needed.

I put the spacers into place, then very gently slide the headlight in. You can see the procedure (with pictures) here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9442
