Switch in 1991 Honda Goldwing1500A

Postby Belize » Mon Apr 20, 2015 12:38 pm

I have 1991 Honda Goldwing 1500A
When you open the gas tank cover, there is something in the area that looks like switch that gas goes through. It has a diaphragm in it and two seemingly gas lines and a smaller hose on the other end of it. What is the name of it ? Where can I get it ?
If you have any information of Honda Dealers in the Central America Area, I would appreciate the information. as I am presently in Belize, Central America.
Thank you

This is the fuel petcock - it is a vacuum operated valve that shuts off fuel flow to the engine when the engine has stopped.

If it is not working correctly, you can get a rebuild kit, and this is much cheaper than replacing it:

You can also order them new, price for your bike is around $132, the part number is 16970-MN5-023

Thank you very much. Is leaking one of their problem or is common ?

If it is leaking, it's likely one or more of the seals, or the diaphragm has failed. The rebuild kit should fix this.
