GL1800 armrests on a GL1500?

Postby JoeB27 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 10:19 am

I recently aquired a 1500 trike, and it doesn't have armrests for my navigator. I really need to correct that issue...problem is, I don't like the style of armrests that mount on the antenna mounts on each side of the trunk. I had those on a previous 1500 and hated them. Always had to swing them out to open the trunk. I did end up finding a set of extended brackets which allowed the trunk to open without swinging the armrests out...but they seemed to make them kind of flimsy.

I've been looking at the style for the GL1800 that mounts behind the passenger grab handles using the seat mounting bolts. I compared the 1500 grab handles to the 1800, and they don't seem to be all that much different, maybe a half-inch difference in the distance between the mounting holes. Looks like a small bracket mod would allow them to work.

Has anyone else gone down this path and modified a set of those 1800 style armrests to fit the GL1500? Be interested to hear if anyone has.

Thanks.
Joe

I was wondering this very thing and asked about it over on FB on one of the Goldwing pages. Will be watching for a reply too !
Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself. Our stress about it happens when the two aren't the same. Be true to yourself and to hell with what everyone else thinks!
