getting a cresent shadow on display

I have a 1988 1500 goldwing and i noticed today a cresent half moon on my radio display can you tell me what this is and can it be fixed

That's a Death Knell sign for your LCD as it is starting to delaminate and moisture is getting in behind it!!

Time to start hunting for a replacement!

Yes, this is a well-known failure mode for GL1500 LCD's. Once it has started, it is too late, and there is no way to fix it. You can try to find a used replacement, or buy a new one from Honda, which is several hundred dollars. Any LCD from any year GL1500 will work.

so is there a fix/preventive before it starts to happen??
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

Not really known. Some people have tried spraying or brushing sealant along the edges of the LCD, in an attempt to keep the layers of glass together. Whether that actually has an effect or not, I don't know.
