Running lights on right saddlebag are out

Postby segwaywinger » Sat May 02, 2015 10:15 pm

I noticed my running lights tonight on the right saddlebag of my '93 Aspencade are no longer working. All other running and brake lights around the bike are functioning correctly. Any advice on what and how to check?

When it happened to my 93 Aspencade It was the wiring inside the bag, near the hindge that had worn through from friction as the bag opens and closes. I cut the wires, re-soldered and heat shrinked. Then I wraped electrical tape around it in the area that is stressed .

Not sure if this will help, but here is a wiring layout of all Honda units. It is the 'master plan', if you will!

If that doesn't work, check the plug under the lower corner cover. Water will get in there if you ride in the rain. Pull it apart and plug it back in usually does it.

Saddle bag lights are not stock. So it depends on where they are connected. Follow the wires and look for a broken wire or where they are connected.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner, jtornese. I checked the wires alongside the rear hinge inside the bag and one wire was broken off, and the second wire was pretty fatigued, and close to breaking. I cut, twisted and soldered both back together and I'm ready to go.
Thanks for all the replies, as I would've used them as a check down if the first idea came up blank.
