Jacking Up Front Wheel

Postby Blinky » Wed May 06, 2015 3:28 pm

1992 GL1500 with Baker ride off center stand installed. I would like to get the front wheel off the ground to check for issues. Anybody see a problem using a piece of plywood placed between an auto scissor jack placed under the oil pan?

Thanks and good hunting

You don't need to tell me 12 times. Eleven usually does it.

Nope!

I use a piece of 1 x 2 on top of the scissor jack and placed under the engine, just rearward of the oil filter to jack up the front wheel

I do the same thing, only with a trolley jack. Just be verrry careful about how high you lift it. With the ride-off center stand, it is much higher up, and it would be easy to lift the front end enough that you lift the center stand off the ground - and then possibly have the bike topple over.

I do the same, but you might want to let as much air out of the rear shock as you can.

Or put a couple pieces of 1/2" plywood under the center stand before putting it up on the center stand.
