Radio on 1999 Goldwing SE

Postby par4ugolf » Tue May 12, 2015 9:03 am

I just recently got my bike out of storage and noticed that the speakers on the right side aren't working. I suspect there is something wrong with the radio as all was working fine last fall when I put it away. Just wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems and what they can tell me or offer some suggestions

Looking at the circuit diagram, there are only two places that could fail causing both speakers on the right side to stop working:

- The fader (or the connector that connects the fader to the radio)
- The radio itself (or the connector on the radio)

I would start by checking the fader, fader connector and radio connector.

Ok thanks. Now to figure out how to get at the connections. Not sure where the fader is.

Your fader is on the left handle bar, that large lump with the tuning and such on it. . . . the fader is the wheel on the side.

Yes I did remember that, but doesn't that just control front to back not side to side?

Correct, however it is one of the places that has control over both right side speakers.

You can see the procedure of how to get to the radio (and disconnect it to check its connector) here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10985
