leaking shock

Post by re774c » Sun May 24, 2015 9:09 pm

89' GL1500 - I rebuilt the original rear air shock after it started leaking. It held for about 2 weeks and started leaking again. I bought a used shock and rebuilt it and installed it about a month ago. Today it starts leaking. Anyone have any suggestions? I usually run it about 35psi. Could the gauge be off and it have to much pressure? How would I check it?

Are you installing the seal the correct way? How much oil was put in?

back in '11 I blew the left shock, oil leaked every where. I put a used shock on so I could make a planned trip to the flight 93 memorial. once back home I though about the age of the right shock, I did not wanting to waste time and money so I ordered the progressive 416's

Both seals were installed per the instructions and I don't remember the amount of fluid but it was not a lot.
