Steering head bearings

Postby 702scottc » Tue Jun 09, 2015 9:43 pm

I need to replace the head bearings on my bike and I'm wondering what the best grease is to use? I heard that moly 60 isn't available anymore? In the old days I used Mystic JP-4 grease, nice and tacky. Still have access to it. Is that ok to use or is there something better?

You would never use moly 60, cost alone to pack two roller bearings would be $100 :)

Any quality wheel bearing/chassis grease will be OK.

Yes, Moly isn't required for this application. As mentioned, any good quality wheel bearing grease will work well.

Ok. Thanks for the input. I always used regular grease in years past, especially on my old 1100, it still had ball bearings.
