GL1500 Trunk Light Replacement

Postby OtherRedHead » Thu Jun 11, 2015 4:39 pm

I have a 98 GL 1500 with a damaged trunk light. I am waiting for the new part to be delivered. Does anyone know how to remove the old light?

Which light are you talking about? Interior light? Spoiler brake light? Trunk brake/running/signal lights?

You need to remove the trunk lower cover, then the lock mechanism cover on the inside back of the trunk. There are then nuts and a few screws that need to be removed that are holding the lights in place.

Here, I knew I had some pictures taken of (at least part of) this process.

Remove screws from bottom of trunk lower cover
Remove screws from bottom of trunk lower cover

Gently pull down lower cover
Gently pull down lower cover

And remove
And remove

Remove screws on back of trunk holding lock mechanism cover in place

Remove screws on top of lock mechanism cover
Remove screws on top of lock mechanism cover

Remove screws inside trunk holding lock mechanism cover in place

Remove lock mechanism cover
Remove lock mechanism cover

Nuts and screws holding lights in place are revealed
