Progressive air on 88 1500 and front tire out of balance

Postby jbcvideo » Sat Jun 20, 2015 1:41 pm

After installing progressive 16 air shocks on rear of my 88 Gl 1500 Trike and after about 40 miles the front starts to fill like it's out of balance at slow speeds. Has a almost new tire on front with beads in it. There was no problem until after I put the air shocks on. Any ideas on this. Thanks Jerry

When you say it feels like the front wheel is out of balance; exactly what are you feeling?

It is hard to tell for sure what is happening. Sorta feels like a wobble when you first start then fells like out of balance up to 36 mph then smooths out and rides fine. It starts at very slow speeds. I wounder if it could be the rear tires out of balance. I can not tell for sure if it is the front or rear. I change the pressure in the shocks from 15 to 75 and makes no difference. I jacked up front and spun tire. No flat spot. The rear does have a small flat spot but that was there before changing shocks and it road fine. It is definitely between a
wobble and out of balance feel.

Wobbles felt at very low speed are generally not tire-balance related. It sounds more like loose bearings. Put your bike up on the center stand and check the wheel bearings, swingarm bearings and steering head bearings for free play.
