Trunk door hinge repair

Postby johngrim » Wed Jul 01, 2015 1:49 am

Does anyone have a suggestion as how to repair the little hinges where the trunk doors are attached on the front of the trunk? Those little posts are pretty brittle and were broken from a previous owner. I'd like to be able do something to repair those and not risk losing those doors (without adding straps and adhesive tape).

all the parts are still available from Honda..and you can reenforce the attachment point with black ABS pipe cement. Several threads o how to repair the ABS plastics.

These horribly designed, delicate hinges are a terrible design flaw. Some people have fixed them with ABS, most people end up using a wire in place of a hinge, or an external "living hinge" replacement. Also check out:

Thanks guys. That helps quite a bit. I'm going to try a brass piece, JB Welded and see how it goes. That's an impressive repair from Mh434 though. I'll probably give in and add a couple of Rudy's Keeps. I don't want to replace those little doors unless I really need to. I've seen enough Wings missing at least one.

You can also try and find the unit from a dis-assembler on eBay or someone parting out one on Craigslist.
