Bent frame or ???

Postby bsavulis » Sun Jul 05, 2015 9:34 am

So I have a new to me 1999 1500A it has 24k miles. It is in very very good condition cosmetically. I went to install a trailer hitch this weekend and noticed that the hitch and rear fender is not centered to the rear wheel, it is to the drivers side by 3/4 of an inch. I searched the web and looked at photos of the rear wheel. It appears to be assembled properly. I am not sure where to look to help diagnose the issue. The rear tire has significant cupping on the drivers side with some one the passenger side. The front has a bit on the drivers side as well. i have a service manual on order but it has not arrived yet. I have inspected the bike carefully and see no sign of any damage at all, no scrapes, scratches, no chipped frame paint, etc.

Thanks for any input.

Sounds like possibly missing a spacer on the rear axle.

or a mis-positioned spacer

Pictures would be helpful.

I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

I don't have a 1500 any longer and my service manual is in CA, I'm not.

I meant pictures of the guy's bike who is having the trouble. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
