Bad fuel pump?

Postby Aspen6869 » Mon Jul 13, 2015 10:32 am

I wonder if anyone could help me please. I have a 99 1500 SE, the bike runs great, lots of power until I pull a long hill then its like the bike cuts off, when I turn the throttle, nothing like the engine is off, but if I clutch it I can rev the rpm's up and let out the clutch and make it to top, after that the bike runs great again.

I have changed out the fuel filter, and ran a bottle of injector cleaner through it, could this be the sign of a week fuel pump or a relay somewhere?

Thank you all for your help

It could be a weak pump but I'd first check the vacuum petcock valve and hose that feeds it.
