what filter s to change

Postby tprender » Tue Jul 14, 2015 8:22 am

I came across a '95 SE this past weekend and now need to go though the bike. I am progressing up from my '86 to the '95, so I have some background with a wing. but, the '5 looks like a whole different animal. I was reading that when you change the air filter there are 2 other filters that need to be changed. What are they, where are they, and when do I get these? I am going to change the oil and filter and the timing belts before I get any time on the bike. The PO died 2 years ago and was not much of a hands on person, that is why I think all of the filters need change.

Cruise control sub filter and air..one on the left side of the bike under the center panel the other on the right sort of the same place center panel. Both a pain to get to but they need to be checked many crumble as you try to replace..

Kind of found it in a round about way about 30 min later. Have ordered the filters from Cyclemax. Will do timing belts at the same time being that some of the plastic will be off in the same area. Might even check the sync of the carbs if I am close at the same time. Thanks for the help

While you are changing those filters and belts, have a look for the vacuum hoses that tend to leak after awhile, especially the one under the mat under the carb.

Most likely too late, since you are so quick, but you can buy the timing belts from almost anywhere, by buying Gates T275 (I hope I have the correct #, just read it tonight), for $15 ea on Amazon. 2 needed.

A lot of DYI on this site, and they are very nice with the pictures. I did my belts without draining the coolant.
