Cruise control question

Postby made2care » Thu Jul 23, 2015 1:06 pm

I have a 97 and am learning all the bells and whistles still.
Regarding the cruise, it does not engage unless I wiggle or push the clutch lever forward and hold, then it engages. Is this a switch or lever issue or both?
Thanks for your help.

Is it possible you have aftermarket levers? I've heard that sometimes they can cause this type of problem. Also, check the bushing in the lever. These can wear out and cause the switches not to function properly.

My right brake lever is a hit and miss event, little moisture in the air and lever needs a push to engage cruise. Replaced switch and it still fails with stock levers. I have pushed it for 5 years since and don't think of it anymore.

Changed brass bushing, pretty worn. Will take out and try again.

Bushing did not help me. Dry day and all is OK. I'm getting too old to worry about the little things.

I put a piece of tape between the lever and the switch and it works. Its cheap and easy to replace.
