If its a round cylinder about 1/2" diameter and maybe a inch long with one wire connection..it is a noise filter capacitor used to reduce alternator whine.
Usually attached when a CB is outfitted.
Dealer has never seen one??
What a shame.

I'm not near a computer.Ask the dealer for a alternator noise filter.Even a auto store may have one

Wow! How old are the technicians in this dealer? 12?

Having said that I have guys with me that have never worked on a carb or a distributor. Our cars don't have them anymore.

Don't let the lack of having this part stop you from finishing the bike so you can ride. There may be a bit of whine in the CB or intercom but certainly won't prevent the bike from running.

I recently picked one up new from Bike Bandit.
Cost $13. Tried to a screen shot of the confirmation but it's not working.

Yeah, not being able to post pictures or screenshots sucks.
Had the same problem with mine, but was able to solder the tab back onto the capacitor.
