Wanting to use the CB

Postby tprender » Sun Aug 16, 2015 3:18 pm

I am going to make a road trip this coming weekend and was wanting to use the CB while I am on the highway. I have no headsets at the present time and will be traveling by myself. What can I use to just talk on the CB? I do have a mic from a CB set in the garage, can I just use this for talking?

Someone manufactured a trucker style microphone only for the Wing a few years back. It plugged into the drivers headset jack by the left fairing pocket and included a handlebar mounting clip. The only help I can offer is to check the usual internet sources. I.E. eBay, Amazon, etc.
Check this one.

That J&M handmic was the one that came to mind right away.
At $95 though, it may be better to spend a little more and get a headset for your helmet.
That way you can not only use the CB, but listen to the radio through them as well.

Thanks for the help. I was just hoping for something less that around $100. I do agree that it is better to go ahead and spend the extra money for a complete set. Will keep looking for something. Maybe someone will come up with another idea I hope for less money.

I use my CB just to monitor the truckers on 19 only when on the open road (too much BS in the city areas) and it works out fine for me. Yes, I can not reply, but atleast I can hear the chatter of where a cop is up ahead or bad weather or _________.
A buddy of mine has a flag he attaches to his antenna that say "Monitoring 19" on it so drivers know he can hear them. . . . I have not tried that one yet, maybe one day. His flag is probably 6"x9" in size.

During the hot summer, I wear a half helmet.
