gl1500 engine

I have a question, will a 2001 Valkyrie engine fit into my 1994 GL1500? I am in the early stages of losing forth gear !!
I see a lot of Valkyrie engines on E-bay not many GL1500s. I know I'll have to use the intake manifold and carburetor assembly
from my bike, but are the engine and trans the same??

The engine and transmission are not the same, they are BETTER. :) It will fit, but it has the upgraded, heavier-duty transmission over your existing engine.

Keep in mind however that it will NOT have reverse. The starter is also different.

The valvetrain is also different - the Valkyrie does not have hydraulic cam lifters, so it requires regular valve adjustments. Because of the hotter cam, you'll have to play with the jetting of the carburetors to get it to work well.

So it's not impossible, no. But you might want to consider whether you want to do this, compared with sourcing a Wing engine from say a 2000 GL1500, which has most of the benefits of the Valkyrie engine (stronger transmission), but keeps reverse, and doesn't need re-jetting.
