Sirus / XM question

Postby Uncle Fester » Tue Sep 01, 2015 7:15 am

I know alot of folks are running a Sirius / XM radio on their GL1500s, I have found where I am gonna mount my receiver, but my question is, where have you mounted your antenna and how was / is the reception ?
Thanks all. :D

I have my antenna mounted on the dash, right up against the windshield, on the right side, above the right speaker. You have to really look to see it there. Reception is excellent, the only time it drops out is when riding under very thick trees or under a bridge - same as for any satellite radio.

I tried having it on and under the trunk lid, and found that the passenger would block the antenna any time I was riding south, so gave up on that idea.

Putting the antenna on the dash was kind of my thought too, so I am glad to hear that it works good for you.

I have a Wind Bender windscreen, with black / dark lower (LOVE it by the way !) and am thinking about mounting the receiver on top of the dash, as pictured below. I just wish the radio I have had blue lighting instead of the yellow / amber that it does have, but will be ok. . .maybe one day I can find someone willing and able to change the lighting, or I can swap out to a receiver that has blue lighting.
