Engine leaking oil

Was going about 70 and bike jumped and started fluttering like it had blown tire when pulled over tires were fine but oil was coming from somewhere on top of motor.... any advice would be greatly appreciated

It's a 88 gl1500

Good evening Djack, I hope you were able to get the bike home where you can remove the plastic and check things out. I do not want send you in the wrong direction, but remove plastic, clean up as much of the oil mess as possible, remove all plugs, remove the 14mm cap on back of engine (left side) and turn slowly with a 17mm socket in a clock wise direction and see if there is any resistance or if it fells like a piston is hitting a valve. you might also be able to see some new oil leakage. Oil from the top of the engine does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. best of luck and please keep us posted. there is lots of help here if needed. :D :D

Yes got home safely I work for a wrecker service so that part was a no brainer... haven't had chance to take it apart yet but will start on that this weekend thank you for your help
