Dead short ?

Postby tbonepete » Mon Nov 02, 2015 7:46 am

G'day all - New to Goldwings and the site. Went out to start my GL1500SE the other day and...nothing. The Battery was renewed 1 month ago so I don't really suspect that-have checked and its fine. I am getting very faint dash lights and when the key is turned around to ignition ,I'm getting chattering from the relay. Can anyone shed any light on this particular problem ? ;) tbonepete

Check the battery again. Either that or you have a loose connection. If you try and jump start it from another power source(car) what happens?

If you jump start it with car DO NOT have the car running.

Put a voltmeter directly on the battery terminals and measure the voltage. Chattering sound when starting is indicative of low battery voltage.

Thanks for that - I'll check it out on my day off later in the week. The multimeter picks the battery at 12.79v. The headlight has been playing up lately and comes on if I fiddle around with the starter button - could the problem be related perhaps ? :D
