Rear shocks what to do??

Postby pugetsoundsailer » Wed Nov 18, 2015 6:35 pm

Just digging into this 88 GL-1500, and I find it's got an after market set of progressive air shocks and one has a blown seal. Anyone know if these are worth rebuilding or should I pickup a set of used stock shocks off ebay ??? :D

Progressive shocks are the way to go. You won't believe the difference.
It would probably be cheaper to rebuild than to get a pair of stock shocks anyway.

yeah at this point I think I'd like to find a set of seals and rebuild them myself, as of now I can't seem to find any, I've emailed progressive.

You can call Progressive direct at 760-948-4012 and get the kit from them as well as other parts you might need.
I hear that they are really good to deal with.
Researching, the seal rebuild kit you need is #30-5041, but check with them to make sure. Amazon has them for around $20.
They also have an instruction sheet here that will walk you through how to do it.

Glad we could point you in the right direction.
Keep us informed on how it goes.
There are probably others considering the same thing.
