Covers for extra tall windshields

Postby OldZX11Rider » Sat Dec 12, 2015 7:04 pm

I was looking for a cover for my 1500 that has an extra tall windshield. I don't know if its a Tulsa windshield or what. It was on it when I bought it and I like it.
Anyhow, all the covers I looked at, looked like they were on factory stock Goldwings with a shorter windshield.
Will a regular cover like on Wingstuff fit? Or is there a company somewheres that makes a cover for the Goldwing with extra windshield?
Took a few minutes but it finally dawned on me, here is the best place to ask.

I've got the same problem.
I installed the Tulsa Tall and the cover that I have just doesn't cut it.
Interested in what others have found.

I had a look-see of your bike and it appears we have the same windshield.

I was scratching my head, searching around on my own when it came to me to check here. Best source of Goldwing knowledge I know of. :D

Is that a Tulsa windshield on your bike?

Honestly don't know. it was on the bike when I got it but it is taller than the stock by about 4 inches I think. I'm not sure exactly how tall the Tulsa is..

After looking up the specs on both the stock and the Tulsa the Tulsa is +3 taller than stock and they make one that's extra tall over the Tulsa but don't give a measurement. Mine is +4 over the stock but have no idea who made it.. Hope this helps you out...

Okay. Well if that cover works for you, I'll take another look at it.

I would much rather hear from someone actually doing it and saying "This works" than be the guinea pig.
Thank you.

Unless you want the cover to go down to the ground the extra length of the windshield shouldn't make that much of a difference. I used a Gold wing cover on my 09 Connie and it went to the ground but the cover I use on my wing now, which is a wing cover does not go all the way down, not a big deal

I want a cover to keep the dust off when it's parked in the shop, is somewhat water repellent and packs small enough to carry on a trip.
I'd prefer it didn't go all the way to to ground. Easier to keep clean. ;)

Well I did'nt know the height of your windshield but mine is +4 over the stock windshield and the cover I posted covers all the way to the bottom of the wheels and shows a little rubber on the front wheel without touching the ground and is large enough to cover everything completely around the baggage, foot pegs, highway pegs etc.. only thing you see is the stand a little rubber on the front tire and some of the back tire. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll see if I can put it on and let you see it and it comes with a travel bag to put it in and I take it everywhere. Pretty easy to stuff back into the bag too....

Looks like we got the same windshield. That cover looks like it fits pretty good.
(Good looking 'Wing too.)
It looks like I'll not be ordering any accessories until after Christmas because "you never know what you're going to get."
Soooo.......I'm thinking something might show up and I'm going to like it just fine.

Your windshield looks the same as mine, the Slipstreamer "Tulsa Tall".
That cover does fit pretty well. The one that I currently have (got before I put the new taller windshield on) has little "pockets" for the mirrors.
With the mirrors in the pockets, it just doesn't fit right.

I guess Santa will have to bring me one of these UltraGard covers too. :D

That was thrown on before the rain in the dark. If you fold the highway pegs in and actually use the straps that are on it it comes about an inch or 2 lower on the front tire. It is the only cover I have ever had that you can pack back into the carry bag without folding it a certain way or maybe its just me. But it goes into the travel bag pretty easily I carry it every where..

Couple of weeks ago, Menard's had car covers for $14.98. Sized to fit a Corolla or Civic. Fits my '05 Wing Trike with plenty to spare.
Cheap, effective and a lot easier to put on than a bike cover.
