Wind deflector(s) question

Postby kane67 » Wed Dec 23, 2015 1:12 pm

Tell me, why did you get deflectors to your wing? There are different models available, just curious to know which model and what effect they "put away" and so on...
As I'm newbie with wing (just 2 months / ~2500 miles experience before starting winter project with it)

I LOVE mine. I have a set of regular wings (about knee height) as well as a set of hand wings (mount underneath the mirrors). Of the two, the hand wings have the most effect.

In cold weather, they deflect the cold wind away from you to help keep you warm. In hot weather, they bring in a ton of air to help cool you off. They make riding so much more pleasurable in hot and cold temperatures!

Have a look at my review: Baker Hand Wings

Thanks WA, never thought the thing that they can cool you... maybe so because if weather is above +25C we are lucky here

Actually I think they help the co rider more then the rider
I had a set on my 92, my 02 and my 08, they do help keep some of the cold air off of you. If it's hot outside and your riding in hot weather and open them up your going to get cool air, there isn't any cool air if the temps are 90 +
I don't have any on my current wing, They do help but I don't ride as much as I used to 25 years back so I don't really need them now.
My 92 with red ones

My 98 with clear ones

On my 1800's (both of them) I only had the hand wings

After reading this I am going to purchase a set of the hand wings - as I noticed on a recent trip I was hanging my hands out in the breeze quite often when cruising down the highway in hotter temps - even with summer gloves which have a breathable mesh backing on them had difficulty getting air flow over them. I currently don't have a screen vent - but looking into that as well for more ventilation.

cheers
