take the cover off unbolt the assembly unplug it and replace. removing the bars may give more access and make it easier to do. Is the short answer.

There is a key code inside the fuel door. The fuel door is flexible enough to pop open if you carefully pry up from the sides.

take the lock off the fuel door and take it to a locksmith and have a key made.

Not sure that will work. May not be exactly the same. The fuel door key only uses the first 3/4 of the key to operate.

Best bet is the key code, next best is getting a full set off eBay.

I'm a locksmith it will work take the lock to a locksmith and he will make it by the code num.

I was told to take to helmet lock off,my 83 has 2 screws remove the luggage bag off one side and take it in
