More Brakes Front wires

Postby johnfliesagain » Thu Jan 21, 2016 9:53 pm

O K so here I am , a wealth of questions.
Refesher: 20000 1500SE New to me, preparing for maryland Inspection, waiting for manual.

O K so tonight ( 27*F in my garage) I bled the rear/front brakes and now have brakes! With prior owner the bike was subject to a push over by meighborhood youths, and then the brakes didn't work. So with the help of others on this forum...THANKS!.

When doing the front I found a pair of wires...photos attached that looked as if they were duct taped to the inside og=f the wheel cover.

Looks like a single lead , BLACK from the top, with a ground wire coming from the bottom to an eyelet at the top cover mounting screw.
I suspect that the prior owner may have had lights inside the cover, unless this was an ABS bike and the front sensors are missing. But that doesn't make sense to me...having a connector at the top where the black wire becomes a red wire... that would just be sloppy design...right? Or am I missing something here? This is not ABS right?

Does the wheel cover that you pulled off have the lights around the outside rim of it?
If so, the wires are for that "ring of fire" and nothing to worry about mechanically.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

It is not ABS. To the best of my knowledge there are no ABS GL1500's. Those wires are either for a Ring of Fire LED string around the wheel covers or a clearance light of some sort.

Chris and Mike:

As I suspected, the wires could be for supplemental lighting.

Did not know about the "Ring of Fire"
WOW, but not present on the wheel covers. But I will leave the bullet connector there until I get all the wiring "discovered."
That would explain the additional fuse assembly that I found under that battery side cover.

Again , thanks for the help. More questions to follow as I go along I am sure!!!
