How come my factory bulb will work in this bulb socket and my new LED bulb will not. The LED works in the other side socket so the bulb is good. Here is a pic of the socket. Can this socket be repaired?
The lead contact broke off this cornering light socket.tcryder

No, that socket will need to be replaced.
You can see by one of the pins at the bottom that it's burnt out.
I don't know if you need the left or the right socket.

The one pin is completely missing. Is that a lead contact? The pic shows that is gone.

I had to replace mine on a bike months ago that both of them looked the same way.
I don't know what caused it, but they were aftermarket lights that had been added.
I had to rewire the connectors as the OEM wouldn't fit.

So you bought the OEM part and it did not fit onto the lower faring? What did you have to do to make it fit? I took the other right side plug off again and took the inside out to see what the differents is. There is only one wire but the right side has molded plastic piece with a green cut off wire in it. That must make contact with the base of the metal plug. The one on the left has one wire with a lead lead and the other hole is empty. What a pain. Going to order 33252 -MT8-771. The crazy thing is that my factory light bulbs work in that left side plug but the LED do not. tcryder

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain myself well enough.
Neither of my cornering lights worked, so when I had the lower cowls off I removed the sockets (picture below).

Both were burned out like yours, so I ordered the OEM replacement sockets.
When I got them and tried to install, the cornering lights must have been aftermarket (I should have known since it was an Interstate), because the connectors wouldn't fit to the ones on the bike. I had to splice the connectors from the old sockets onto the new OEM sockets in order for them to work.

Looking at your sockets unable to see if they have two contacts that the two contacts on the bulb meet.

That was the problem. One contact in each (plus some of the insides) had melted.
I'm still not sure what the PO had done, but it was fixed when I sold it.
