changing the lights on my radio

Postby tprender » Mon Feb 01, 2016 10:29 am

I have read the how-to on changing the bulbs on the radio over to LEDs but I am not that good with soldering things. Is there a direct replacement for the lights in my radio other than the stock bulbs to make it LED? I would rather just put in a bulb instead of trying to solder some things. The how-to is 3 years old and maybe there is a update since then. The how-to says that this is a correct replacement for the top 3 bulbs NEO5-BHP, but what about the 2 bulbs that light up the knobs on the radio? I have saw that this bulb does not work or does it? Is there a LED replacement for the bottom 2 bulbs? Plus I looked on the Honda parts fish and it does not show the stock bulb numbers in the listing for the radio.

I would like to see an easier installation as well and look forward to a reply from someone.
On your second question, WingAdmin has a radio service manual available here.

After doing some more looking I found that I might be able to use these, could someone give me an OK if these will work for sure. I think that I can solder just the 2 wire together to make this work. Also, I think that these would work in all of the 5 places that have bulbs? Will be waiting for some answers.

Have you read through this entire post ?

Your Amazon lights are 5mm, and I don't believe they will fit through the holes in the board. You need 3mm. You can get them at the place I mentioned in one of my 2 posts within the referenced post above (Oznium). They are also pre-wired and easy to work with.
Also, as I described in my posts, the NEO bulbs will not work. Even if they are the right size, the contacts are on the wrong side of the board. I also describe some other non-LED bulb sources to replace the bulbs as OEM. Read my posts, as well as the instructional. Someone else has confirmed (since this article was posted back in 2013) that the LEDs from Cyclemax for the 1800, DO fit the 1500 radio.

After going back and rereading the posts I see that I need 3mm for the light holes and I posted a link for 5mm lights. I posted the wrong link from the how-to, here is the correct link for the 3mm lights. If this is correct and I think that this is the only way to replace the 2 lights for the knobs.

That should work.
Correction at the end of my last post.
The Cycle max bulbs are NOT LEDs, they are regular incandescent bulbs like the OEMs.
